Apostle
islands

sea kayak trips

You have never experienced anything like paddling your kayak inside one of the thousands of sea caves that dot the coast of lake Superior near Bayfield, Wisconsin. If you want to experience the ultimate in sea kayaking then join us on one of our weekend outings to Lake Superior.

Plan on making this a four-day weekend. Leave Friday to make the seven hour drive to Bayfield. The scenery on the way is fantastic and its an easy drive. Carpooling makes the most sense but if you want to add a few extra days to the trip there is plenty to see in the UP.

There are campgrounds available in Bayfield or Sand Bay or plenty of commercial lodging to choose from. There is outdoor entertainment all summer not far from Bayfield including some great musical bands.

Once you are on the water, you can explore the shoreline or make the 2.5 mile crossing to Sand Island to view the caves and hike to the Lighthouse. Deli-style lunch is provided each day while we are paddling. Sea kayaks are required for this trip as the water can change in a heartbeat.

This is a fantastic trip and everyone is encouraged to do this at least once. If you like paddling you will love the Apostle Islands.

Reservations required by visiting the Tours page of the 2K Adventure Gear website.
Appropriate ages 14 - adult.

Nippersink
creek
lunch trip

kayak series

Experience the meandering Nippersink Creek as it twists and turns from Keystone Landing to Spring Grove. You will witness how the terrain changes from the prairie-like setting behind Glacial Park to the tree-lined banks east of Route 31.

This six hour trip begins on Saturday mornings at 10 am. Paddle down river to Pioneer Landing where we relax and indulge in a tasty deli-style buffet lunch. After the food settles and our arms are rested we once again enter the kayaks for the second half of the trip.

The scenery changes and we get closer to Spring Grove. Hidden from civilization by the river banks and numerous trees you will feel like you have travelled far from home to experience nature.

Our easy-to-paddle sit-inside kayaks keep you dry and comfortable. We paddle as a group and have a guide at all times.

Schedule a private trip for 8 or more paddlers. Rally your coworkers or take the family and neighbors.

Wisconsin
river
overnight
kayak trips

Pack your bag and head north towards Madison, Wisconsin to partake in a unique paddling adventure. Join us as we navigate the Wisconsin River on its way to join the mighty Mississippi River in southwestern Wisconsin.

Our two-night camping trip begins on Friday evenings when we meet at a campsite outside Spring Green, Wisconsin. We go to a local restaurant where you can enjoy the all-you-can eat fish fry or fill your belly with pasta or steaks. After dinner we head back to the campfire for a brief night-cap before retiring for the evening.

Awake to the awesome aroma of coffee, bacon and eggs being prepared on the campfire. Our fresh blueberry pancakes are a simple yet delicious accompaniment to the perfect breakfast.

We hit the water and head down river. A pleasant deli-style lunch and nap on a sand bar prepare you for an afternoon of calm paddling. Down river we set up camp in the middle of the river on a scenic sandbar. Salmon, chicken, steaks, fresh salads and salsa are all prepared while you indulge in a glass of wine or beer. The food is fantastic and so are the new friends you will make on this trip.

Kickapoo
river
overnight
kayak trips

The Kickapoo is the Wisconsin River's longest tributary. The Kickapoo River meanders for 130 miles from Wilton to Wauzeka, where it empties into the Wisconsin River. As the crow flies, this distance is less than half that long, about 60 miles. The name Kickapoo is Algonquin for "one who goes here, then there" and accurately describes the river, which flows in all directions of the compass for portions of its length. The Kickapoo is a slow-moving river which overflows its banks rapidly in heavy rains.
Rivers by their very nature erode their valleys. Most people think of stream bank erosion as a rather ugly sight, but the Kickapoo River's erosion has created beautiful vertical or nearly vertical sandstone cliffs along the river.
Some cliffs are large enough to create an isolated humid environment capable of supporting rare plants. You'll see something new and interesting with each turn of this crooked river--sandstone cliffs covered with mosses, ferns, and wildflowers and shaded hemlocks.
Because of the many trees that line the river, you may encounter navigational hazards such as log jams and downed trees.    -Wisconsin DNR
We paddle from Ontario to LaFarge in the Kickapoo Valley Reserve system. As always the food is gourmet and the paddling experience is profound.
